Ibtihaj Muhammad; the first muslima to compete for the USA in Olympics

We were so proud to see Ibtihaj Muhammad (1985) sitting on the couch at the Ellen Show. The reason for the invite? Her, being the first veiled muslima to compete for the United Stated fencing team. And she sure worked hard to get that position! After joining the fence team at the age of 13 her fencing career rocketed immediately upwards. After being a three times All-American winner and a Junior Olympic Champion winner in 2005, she graduated from the Duke University with a double major in International Relations and African Studies. Hereafter, she won bronze at the World Fencing Championships in 2011 and 2015 and a gold medal in 2014.

Curious about her skills? Check the video below to see a tutorial by the one and only Ibtihaj herself!
