Qatar brings shopping to a next level

It’s been two years now since Qatar announced the plans for Mall of Qatar. A vibrant new shopping destination and a serious concurrent for Dubai Mall. Mall of Qatar will take shopping in Qatar to a different level, says Rony Mourani, its deputy general manager. “Construction is in full swing and everything’s in place, on schedule. We’ve already achieved our October target of leasing 70% of the retail space and we should open in the fourth quarter of 2015, again as scheduled,” he adds. “Our research shows there’s significant untapped demand for quality integrated shopping, dining and entertainment facilities in the retail sector in Qatar. We hope our 2.04 million sqft mall will be a big step in fulfilling this demand and fostering the economic growth and prosperity of the country,” Mourani asserts.

Mall of Qatar is designed to cater to every segment of the emirate’s society. “Many of the brands we are trying to bring to the mall are currently not present in the country. They may be available in the UAE or elsewhere in the GCC but they are new to Qatar, some even new to the region. Ours is a well-balanced retail mix ranging from traditional value products to the popular, premium and luxury.” explains Mourani.

The mall will host 425 retail outlets, including four international department stores, a Carrefour hypermarket, 25 major flagship stores, over 50 luxury brands, 65 restaurants and a world-class IMAX cinema. The cinema complex will boast 19 screens, including the IMAX screen, six VIP screens, over 3,000 seats, food and beverage options and a 10-lane bowling alley. It will also offer large, brightly lit, easy-to-navigate, state-of-theart parking with over 7,000 parking spaces, making parking easy even on the busiest traffic days. The mall will feature daily live international entertainment with QLive at The Oasis. QLive will be its defining feature, encompassing events, entertainment, sports, live concerts and in-mall activities for a wide demographic and the whole spectrum of age-groups. It will be an intrinsic part of Mall of Qatar’s marketing push, driving customer traffic for its tenants and boosting sales.
