The five most beautiful haute horlogerie watches of this season

Soumaya Hritane at the SIHH Van Cleef & Arpels BoothThe 26th Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie has ended on a positive note as usual and on this occasion, our luxury editor Soumaya Hritane is taking a moment to do a recap on this great event.

Like every year, the SIHH brings jewellery and watchmaking experts together for a whole week in the heart of Watchmaking, Geneva. Prestigious brands such as Van Cleef & Arpels, Piaget, IWC, Jaeger LeCoultre and Cartier (all part of the Richmont group), and  are here to reveal their new collection and present the full measure of their skills.

For the first time, the circle of exhibitors has expanded to twenty-four as SIHH inaugurates its very first Carré des Horlogers, a showcase for nine artisan-creators, independent workshops and representatives of watchmaking’s “new guard” : Christophe Claret, De Bethune, H. Moser & Cie and Laurent Ferrier.

On the road to the 5 iconic women’s watches

Van Cleef & Arpels knows how to perfectly transform a watch into jewellery without losing its elegant techniques. The Lady Arpels Ronde des Papillons watch is an very artistic and poetic piece describing time as the circling dance of three colored butterflies between the clouds who sets the tempo for the minutes, while the hours take flight in the wake of a swallow.

The Royal Oak collection by Audemars Piguet has written luxury all-over. The glow of gold is accentuated by the glittering 40 brilliant-cut diamonds (0.73 carats) on the bezel, and the “Grande Tapisserie” pattern on the silver or the new blue dial. Additional signature codes are also in place: 18-carat yellow gold case, yellow gold applied hour-markers and Royal Oak hands with luminescent coating.

Glamorous, feminine and elegant is how you describe the new Limelight Gala Milanese by Piaget. With its original asymmetrical lugs and voluptuous curves of the diamond-set bezel, the Limelight Gala Milanese has been upgraded to a glamourous jewellery piece that can be worn by any fashionista. Set with sixty-two brilliant-cut diamonds and gold-toned Roman numerals, this piece will definitely shine in your jewellery collection.

Jaeger LeCoultre has teamed up with Christian Louboutin and combined their luxury expertise to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the Reverso. For Christian Louboutin, a watch is inseparable from its strap, as these two elements form a whole. Thus, the creator has envisaged the Reverso models in the same way that one creates a jewelry collection, by giving each one a strong, original identity.
