Beauty review: MaghreBeauty

Ssst.. these are the Moroccan beauty secrets provided by Our beauty editor Zakia Moukhal reviewed three typical Moroccan beauty products: Savon, Ghassoul and the Argain oil. Getting a healthy glowing skin is no secret anymore. See the results below!

Ghassoul Orange

This mask contains lava clay from the Atlas Mountains in Morocco and has a lovely scent of orange flower water. The Ghassoul Orange can be used as a nourishing mask for face, body and hair. It’s a natural skin conditioner that reduces dryness, improves skin clarity & elasticity and unblocks pores.

It’s absorbing properties ensure that all minerals penetrate deeply into the skin. As it starts to dry you can feel it because it’s tightening up. After using this mask many of my impurities disappeared; letting my skin looks very smooth and soft with a healthy glow. I finish off with the Argan Oil to moisturize my skin.

For a hair mask you can mix the clay with water or Argan oil to create a paste and then rub it into your hair after shampooing. Let the mask set for 10-15 minutes and rinse with warm water.

Savon Noir Eucalyptus

This black moisturizing and exfoliating soap – which is also called ‘Sabon beldi’ is rich in vitamin E. The olive oil based paste can be used as an everyday soap or in preparation for exfoliation using a scrub glove. It also heals skin irritations, makes skin smoother and opens up pores for a clean skin. The scent of eucalyptus makes this soap smell amazingly refreshing. This Savon Noir Eucalyptus is my Sunday Hero, when I turn my bathroom into a real hammam!

Argan Oil

This oil will moisturize and soften your skin, give your skin tone a boost and add radiance. The oil contains natural anti-oxidants and is rich in vitamin E, which will help to improve elasticity of the skin. Normally I’m not a big fan of Argan oil, because of the nutty scent. But I just love the pleasant smell of lavender in this oil, which has a calming effect. I’ve been using this oil ever since as a night serum for my face. The Argan oil can also be used as a hair serum, without getting oily hair. One small pump is enough for your face & neck or hair. Argan Oil is considered as a dry oil and therefore it absorbs more quicker than regular oils. Best use: after exfoliating the skin or as an after shower moisturizer before going to bed.
